I just wanted people to lighten up and laugh a little

In an attempt to be funny, a man found himself in a very sticky situation. Before you go off wondering if the man was rescued you need to know that the one hanging from the gutter is a dummy (not a real person doing a stupid thing). The home owner decided to hang a dummy from his gutter and lean a ladder, as if it had fallen, to help lessen the tension of people during this very hectic time of year. Well, it had a reverse effect. A 70+ year old woman saw it, slammed on her brakes, ran into the yard, worked to get the ladder set up, climbed the ladder only to discover that she had no use for such humor.

The home owner did agree to take the display down because of two reason, or so was reported. 1 - At the encouragement of a police officer who said it will cause more wrecks and 2 - At the expense of his yard being destroyed further... where fine upstanding citizens were driving into the yard to come to the rescue.

Maybe the best thing we can learn here is that it is not a bad thing to stop and think about the bigger picture before we make any major decision. Asking ourselves, how will what I do affect others? Let's not totally discard the idea, the man had a good idea to bring some levity to our lives at a time when too many are too serious about the wrong thing.

For me though, I laughed even before I knew it was a display.
